DecoDeck® redefines outdoor hospitality at coastal country club
Perched in an exposed marine environment on the NSW South Coast, the Tuross Head Country Club recently transformed its outdoor spaces with a major balcony refurbishment, showcasing how DecoDeck® excels when projects demand durability, design flexibility, and long-term performance.
The north-facing deck, once constructed from traditional timber, had struggled for years under harsh conditions. Constant UV exposure, salt spray, and high visitor traffic led to premature rot, fading, and a growing list of maintenance costs, prompting the Club to seek a more resilient and future-proof solution.
Before Images of Tuross Timber Decking
With the deck positioned as one of the venue’s most valued hospitality assets, the replacement needed to complement the Club’s sweeping coastal views while delivering reliability across all seasons. DecoDeck® emerged as the standout choice, meeting the Club’s dual requirement for architectural compatibility and practical performance. Its ability to be curved and custom-installed made it ideal for the balcony’s distinct rounded form, offering significantly more versatility than traditional timber or composite systems.
Club President Chris Walsh explained the driving force behind the upgrade. “The timber deck on the northern side of the club required replacement, and we needed a product that was attractive, durable and maintenance free. DecoDeck® was the perfect solution and has attracted many favourable comments from our members.”
One of the key advantages for the Club was DecoDeck’s® low-maintenance profile. Finished in DECO’s Super Durable™ DecoWood® textured timber-look coating, the system delivers a long-lasting, slip-resistant surface without the regular sanding, staining, and repainting previously required. This not only improves safety and aesthetics but also reduces lifetime maintenance costs – an important consideration for a high-traffic venue welcoming members, visitors, and holidaymakers year-round.
After DecoDeck® Installation
Despite the balcony’s curved design, installation proceeded smoothly. The decking’s lightweight aluminium structure made it easier for installers to manoeuvre, shape, and secure, even in areas that previously posed challenges. “It was a complex installation because of the curved deck, but the aluminium DecoDeck® was easy to work with, and the result is excellent. I envisage that we will be engaging DECO Australia leading us into the future.” Walsh commented.
The project now stands as a compelling example of how DecoDeck® can enhance coastal hospitality environments by combining architectural flexibility, enduring durability, and premium aesthetics. For venues looking to elevate guest experience while eliminating the burden of constant upkeep, DecoDeck® continues to prove itself as a trusted and transformative decking solution.
