DECO Completes Major Solar Energy Installation
DECO is pleased to announce the completion of our major solar panel installation project. An additional 958 solar panels have been installed across the roof of our manufacturing facility in Minto, bringing our total solar energy capacity to over 500 kilowatts – enough to power approximately 60 per cent of our operations.
This project has been a significant strategic investment for DECO and highlights our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and reducing the carbon emissions related to the production of our products. To give context, the energy produced by the new solar energy system equates to powering around 100 average-size homes annually or planting over 10,000 trees.
DECO’s General Manager, Richard Hamber, expressed enthusiasm for the company’s continuous commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. “DECO has always been committed to improving our carbon footprint, and we are thrilled to further invest in our renewable energy program through the installation of these additional solar panels.”

Amidst evolving building codes and the introduction of the NSW Government’s BASIX Material Index, DECO remains steadfast in reducing the embodied carbon of its building materials and supporting the industry’s transition to cleaner, greener practices.
DECO’s sustainability efforts extend beyond energy initiatives. In June 2023, we became the first building products manufacturer to transition to LocAl® Green lower carbon aluminium across all our extruded products supplied by Capral Aluminium, significantly reducing CO2e emissions.
