DecoDeck® Timber-Look Decking Granted Patent

The DecoDeck® system, which is made from solid aluminium extrusion and finished with Super Durable sublimated powder coated DecoWood slip-resistant finish, is a unique offering in the Australian decking market. It features an inventive interconnecting board and connector design unlike any other aluminium decking option on the market. In 2020, the DecoDeck system received a Good Design Award for its unique design.

Receiving a patent means IP Australia have recognised that DecoDeck® is not only one of a kind in the market, but a unique invention created by DECO Australia, and have therefore awarded it protection against infringments or copying for the next 20 years in accordance with the Patents Act 1990.

The granting of DecoDeck’s Standard Patent comes after DECO was successful in an infringement case in the Federal Court of Australia surrounding DECO’s wall cladding Patent.  The cladding design, which is protected by an Innovation Patent, had been copied by a competitor.
