Designing for Franchises: Our Top 5 Franchise Designs

Most franchise businesses will have strict branding policies about how a store must look (inside and out), the colours applied, and even the materials used; some will even have an in-house team that will design each and every store. For those designing franchise store concepts, there are multiple factors that need to be considered to ensure a style will work across multiple sites and locations. The Foodary

If you have ever visited The Foodary at a Caltex station, you will notice the look and feel of the space is not what you would expect from a petrol station food outlet. The woodgrain finished products feature profoundly throughout the stores, creating an environment that is inviting, warm, and welcoming. DecoWood® American Oak was able to provide a fresh design style for the franchise and was preferred over real timber due to its durability and low maintenance requirements. The result is a sophisticated store that draws customers in.

Oporto

Oporto, the popular Portuguese flame grilled chicken chain, recognises the millennial market’s influence on Aussie food culture in their new store designs. It has therefore incorporated a modern and fresh design style to attract its target market. We love how Oporto used DecoClad Narrowline in a unique cross-hatch pattern on the façade of their stores to create an interesting and eye-catching design The light-coloured Tasmanian Oak DecoWood® finish also adds to the food brand’s funky and dynamic vibe.

BP and David Jones

David Jones and BP unveiled their first store collaboration last year in Bayside, Melbourne. BP wanted to offer busy, urban customers a new high-end convenience store option that delivers high-quality fresh food as well as an exceptional retail experience. Timber-look DecoBattens were used to achieve the appearance of an upmarket retail outlet whilst creating an inviting entrance for its customers. The elegant Smoked Ash DecoWood® finish provided a timber-look solution suitable for use in a petrol station, and its Super Durable™ powder coat finish can withstand exhaust fumes and brake dust from high traffic locations – retaining its beautiful finish for many years to come.

Renowned for its elegance and independent style, Australian clothing brand Kookai is at the forefront of modern design. When it came to designing their Pacific Fair shop on the Gold Coast, the retail store had to reflect the brand’s signature style and luxurious Queensland living.  We love how they used DecoWood® powder coated louvres to add a contemporary coastal vibe to the store. The Curly Birch finished Louvre Sunscreen System by Lourveclad provided maximum impact whilst offering a maintenance-free design solution.

Sportsgirl

When the iconic Australian fashion store wanted to renovate their existing storefront in Perth city, they knew they wanted quality fit out products that would reflect the brand’s identity. Window and door frames built out of DecoWood® finished DecoBatten provided a durable product that would withstand the harsh conditions of a busy city shopping mall. The Natural American Oak finish by DecoWood® complemented the brands cool, edgy vibe, providing contemporary storefront that is low-maintenance and ideal for high-traffic retail.
