Brightening up an otherwise pedestrian homemaker centre in Western Sydney, DecoWood® battens were cleverly used to create design features across all north, south, east and west facing sides of the complex’s food and beverage centre. The effect is a warm and inviting al fresco dining area that attracts customers throughout the day, despite its sparse industrial setting.
Marsden Park Home Hub was built in 2017 and specified a combination of 50 x 50mm and 50 x 150 mm DecoBatten® timber-look aluminium battens to form a facade, soffit lining and al fresco dining area around the building. Since its installation, the battens have remained structurally in as-new condition, with no twisting, warping or cracking.

Though the site is exposed to environmental factors such as direct UV radiation and pollution on all sides, the DecoWood® colour remains consistent across the complex, suggesting minimal, if any, fading. Up close, the DecoWood® grain structure remains strongly visible.
The only noticeable sign of ageing is bird droppings, particularly in the higher reaches where access for cleaning and maintenance would be limited. Importantly, there are no visible signs of damage to the DecoWood® caused by the droppings.
Australian designed and made, DecoBatten® and the DecoWood® finish are tested to ensure they sustain local conditions. Marsden Park Home Hub’s warm and inviting exterior is not just popular with Hub customers, but also serves as a lively meeting place for the wider community.
