Castello, a bespoke multi-residential project by Highlife Homes, redefines luxury living on Mermaid Beach. Just steps from the shoreline, this four-level residence draws on bohemian influences while embracing a sophisticated coastal aesthetic.
Central to the design is the integration of DECO’s DecoBatten® QuickClick® two-piece system, applied seamlessly across the façade and garage. The choice of timber-look aluminium battens – finished in DecoWood® Curly Birch – provides both visual warmth and long-term durability in the home’s demanding beachfront environment.
The architectural features begin at street level with a transparent garage screen featuring 50 x 50mm battens. This lineal design carries through the vertical plane of the façade, extending across two stories with 50 x 75mm battens in continuous lengths for a seamless, uninterrupted finish. At the upper levels, the battens not only curve with the rounded corners of the building, softening the strong verticals and introducing fluidity, different length battens continue the curves across the screen tying in perfectly with the rest of the external design features. Colour-matched end caps deliver a refined, detail-driven resolution.

On the top floor, 50 x 200mm battens provide additional screening, balancing privacy with natural light and maintaining expansive coastal views. This layering of scale and proportion in the batten profiles not only enhances their design statement but also demonstrates the versatility of DecoBatten® in meeting both functional and design outcomes.
Castello exemplifies how DecoBatten can be used to achieve cohesion, durability and aesthetic sophistication – creating a landmark residence that embodies the elegance of contemporary coastal design.
