Project Revisited: DecoWood® Fencing and Gates

The Lutmans installed their DecoWood® slat fence around 2010, and more than 15 years later it is showing limited signs of ageing. The mostly west-facing fence looks basically new with very little effort required over the years.

Replacing the soft wood fence that was rotting away, the Lutmans chose DecoSlat® to enclose their pool area. They were able to keep the existing brick pillars and created custom solid panels to fit. Three gates were also customised to order, including one solid gate to face the street, and two with spacing for visibility into the pool enclosure. DecoWood® Casuarina finish was selected to match the tone in the pillars.

After experiencing timber, the Lutmans were intent on finding a product that was easy to maintain, and DecoWood® has not disappointed.

“Maintenance? I just clean the bird droppings and cob webs, sometimes a bit of dirt splatter when it rains. Maybe twice a year plus spot cleaning as required. It’s so easy to clean – sometimes I just hose it off when I am in the garden, it doesn’t take much.

“As well as no maintenance, we also love the look of it, we have always loved the look of it. Sometimes it’s hard to choose a colour from a sample, but we were happy from the start. It just fits in so well with the pool yard.”

The Lutmans’ fence has had many admirers over the years, with one of their neighbours asking about it as soon as it went in.
