Darwin Waterfront Benches

Renowned for its intense heat and humidity, Darwin faces the challenge of finding durable building products that can withstand its harsh environment and coastal locality. Ram Services sought an alternative to timber benches to install on Darwin Waterfront, that could withstand the moisture, salt spray and bright sunlight they would be exposed to.

DECO provided an answer with our unique aluminium decking product, DecoDeck®. The DecoDeck® used for Darwin’s Bayview Marina has been admired by locals for years, but this versatile product isn’t limited to jetties and backyard decks. DecoDeck® provides an ideal solution for outdoor seating, coated in Super Durable™ DecoWood® for a stunning timber-look finish with a realistic timber feel, minus the rotting, splintering and warping of real timber. Our DecoDeck® slip-resistant polyurethane finish also makes it safe to sit on when wet, and the excellent thermal conductivity of aluminium dissipates heat evenly across the boards, reducing hot spots that might make sitting uncomfortable on a hot day.

Ram Services were delighted with the idea of using DecoDeck® as an alternative to timber planks and are trialling a DecoDeck® topped bench just outside Darwin’s famous Wave Pool, featuring a warm, earthy DecoWood® African Blackwood timbergrain finish.
