DecoClad Tested and Rated to BAL40 for Bushfire-Prone Areas

DECO Australia’s non-combustible aluminium cladding system, DecoClad®, has been evaluated and deemed suitable for use in BAL40 bushfire-rated areas when installed in accordance with the DecoClad® BAL40 Installation Guide.

BAL40 is the highest bushfire attack level rating used for residential construction, representing exposure to intense radiant heat, flying embers and the risk of burning debris during a bushfire event. Having products that can perform in these demanding conditions can provide greater peace of mind for homeowners, designers and builders alike.

The performance of DecoClad® under BAL40 conditions was assessed through independent testing by Ignis Labs in NSW in accordance with AS 1530.8.1, the Australian Standard used to evaluate building materials exposed to simulated bushfire conditions.

In addition to its BAL40 evaluation, DecoClad® has also been tested to a range of Australian fire standards, including AS 1530.1, AS 1530.3 and AS 1530.4, achieving a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of -/30/30 when installed in accordance with the relevant installation guidelines.

The BAL40 evaluation applies to entire DecoClad® range, giving homeowners and designers more options to achieve a stylish façade without compromising on compliance.
