Inspired by luxury resort-style hotels, Drift is Mosaic’s latest architecturally-designed showcase now completed in Coolum, Queensland. Designed by OGE Group and inspired by its beachside location, Drift is a sophisticated and modern multi-residential development that represents everything you would expect from coastal living.
Set just 20 metres back from the coast, the 56 north-facing apartments offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and created an interesting design challenge for Mosaic. The requirement was a suitable façade that would withstand Australia’s harsh conditions – namely the ultraviolet rays and ocean salt spray – all whilst achieving the look and feel of their opulent design. Careful consideration led to the specification of multiple DECO products across the project.
A mixture of DecoBatten®, DecoClad® and DecoSlat® aluminium products were chosen to create the final stunning masterpiece. All products were finished in the DecoWood® Qualicoat Class 2 marine grade powder coating in Weathered Timber due to its Super Durable™ qualities and low-maintenance requirements as well as providing the high-quality design aesthetic the designers insisted on. To emphasise the development’s contemporary style, DecoBatten® 100x50mm battens were positioned vertically on the outside of the building to create a striking visual feature, while DecoClad® V-Groove cladding was installed over the upper story to complete the façade.
On ground level, an impressive mixture of 50x50mm and 100x100mm DecoBatten® were installed vertically to serve as a screening device that allows airflow yet still creates privacy for residents. In the gardens, luxurious resort-style pool cabanas have been constructed from DecoSlat® 65x16mm aluminium slats.
The result? A showstopping set of luxury apartments and penthouses fit for any resort lover. The DecoWood® Weathered Timber finish, created a contemporary tranquil design with features that complement its coastal environmental and ocean views effortlessly.
